An expensive User Interface Update
I am flying for a major international Airline and have been Logten Pro user for quite a few years now, each time paying an upgrade fee.
Aside from the User Interface Update and the Notifications, I see virtually no change in the functionality at all. This version should have been a maintenance release which fixes the iCloud Sync issue with iOS8 / Yosemite and to generally keep up with the Apple Development Cycle. This is called customer service and what Coradyne should provide to the existing customers.
Besides being a pilot, I am also a developer and have myself created some advanced iOS apps (Yes, including advanced CoreData & iCloud & REST API for a server). Sure, there were quite some changes in the SDK in the last year. I don’t want to get into much detail here, but essentially upgrading some iCloud Sync Code and a bunch of storyboard screens does not really justify $70/year subscription.
For this app, the subscription model makes no sense. It may so if they would offer some real data feed services which add some value for the end user. CONUS rates for tax calculation of perdiems, just to name one. There are many more examples.
Sorry Coradine, I’m not upgrading. Not because I can’t spare a few bucks, but by principle. I might even fire up Xcode and hack away to create my own solution.
