I’ve been a Log Ten user since Version 6 was released, and I happily paid Coradine for the pleasure of using their amazing log book software. This is a highly capable piece of software, and the amazing user customizable functions, duty times, reports, etc, have to be seen to be believed. There is no end to the functionality of this software, and Coradine has continued to improve upon previous versions. The customer support provided by Coradine, continues to be the best anywhere, with rapid responses to all questions, and suggestions for improvements. There seems to be a lot of confusion, and negativity towards Coradine with regards to the new pricing model, and while Coradine has done a great job informing customers of the changes to the model, it seems people need to be reminded what the model is. Currently, Log Ten Pro X, which was a free download for the Mac version, will be just $89.99USD after November 7th, 2014. There is NO subscription fee for using the Mac version. The iOS version, is available as a free download, for use on iOS devices, and carries a measely $49.99USD annual subscription (when put into context that is just $0.13/day! - which is a heck of a lot less than what most pilots throw away on things like coffee each day). And finally, once you’ve got your copy of Log Ten Pro X, all updates, feature releases, and OS compatability changes, are FREE!
I don’t write a lot of reviews on iTunes, but when I do I am either really disappointed or really happy. Btw, I’m French so sorry in advance for my English. As a professional pilot with thousand of hours in a lot of different fields (helicopter, mutliengine, IFR, VFR, EMS, military, NVG, etc), LTP has always been the best option I found to save all my datas. I have been a LTP user since it’s version 5 and never had to complain so far. Now that the version X is free for Mac, I would say it is a must-have app for any pilots! Great interface, easy to fill and to customize, lot of options, etc. I would also like to point out that the customer support team is awesome, efficient and really… patient. I am quite far from a computer geek, I had a few troubles to move all my datas from LTP 6 to LTP X but they helped me out a lot to move all my hours to the new version (thanks Tyler). I definitely recommand this app. Antoine
Been a solid LogTen customer for 5+ years. No longer a happy client. They say this new model and pricing is it and you will get all the updates for free. This is not the first time they made claims and then backed away to do something completely different after they have your money. Only a couple years ago they brought out a new release (LogTen 6) with a multitude of new features advertised the biggest being iCloud syncing. Many of us bought the program due to this. Only to realize that the iCloud sync didn’t work. From Coradines website on Sept 22, 2011 "One of the most important features of the latest version of LogTen Pro is the integration of Apple’s iCloud.” iCloud sync didn’t work until 6.5 and was announced January 23, 2014. They suckered us all into paying for LogTen 6 with the top announcement being iCloud syncing, which it did not support for 16 months after we purchased it. If you don’t believe me look at Coradines Blog on their website all the dates and posts are on there. Then when the latest Apple upgrade happened a bunch of features (Cloud sync) no longer worked and bugs where introduced. Coradine said they will no longer update LogTen 6 to be compatable with the new Apple upgrade. This only 8 months after they came through on the promise made 16 months before inwhich iCloud would be supported. So we only got what we paid for 16 months after we purchased it and it only worked for 8 months, thats only 33% of the time that LogTen 6 was released and working. Not to meantion on September 17th Apple released iOS 8. On October 13th Coradine admitted that a bunch of features didn’t work on that update either and that bugs where introduced including one that erased some of your data from all of your flights. Coradine refuses to fix this with an update and says if we want it to work again we have to pay again for X which was release 1 month after the bugs where introduced. Good customer service, your right they answer your emails quickly but refuse to do anything about the problems. Not good customer service in my mind.
Beware of the pricing, this LogBook software isn’t worth it and doesn’t have a solid customer service backing, or an interest in taking care of its current customers. I paid a lot for the previous iPad and Mac versions of this software and the new pricing model has disregarded what previous customers have paid. When I emailed LogTen support about it they showed no sign of caring at all about customers in my situation. I feel very taken advantage of by this company, and I will never again purchase anything from Coradine.
iCloud Syncing doesn’t work very well, i always got few data missing, like crew name… at that price, it should be perfect, you’ll loose a 5+ years costumer…..
I have been using LTP for a number of years and really like the product. Overall, I’d recommend the software, so long as you don’t mind the price tag. Pros: 1. Tons of data entering options 2. Tons of filtering and report generating options 3. Ability to generate various reports, and customize them as needed to include or remove data 4. Syncing across multiple devices 5. Tracking various data (Certificates, Currency, etc) 6. Customer support is good, or at least that has been my experience. If you contact them because you want a lower price, you probably will be disappointed with the response. For technical issues or questions, I have always received prompt replies and assistance. Cons: 1. iCloud syncing can take a loooooong time to sync across devices, sometimes hours or even needing a reboot of the device to force it over. Not sure if this is an iCloud issue or an App issue. 2. You have to know HTML coding to modify the reports, and those are only available on the Mac edition. There really should be an in-app tool (selectable checkboxes or something). 3. The scheduling importing feature may require use of a third part service, depending on your company (I use Roster Buster). 4. The pricing is a bit steep, given the syncing issues. If you read the other reviews, this is what has really turned off a lot of previous customers.
Sorry Corodine but you just lost another long time customer. You have become Greedy and I have had enough of buying the software over and over again. I have paid hundreds of dollars since LTP 3 to upgrade my MacBook, iPad and iPhone and now a subscription… No Thank You!
I have also paid for previous Logten Pro versions and have become a victim of this rip off subscription model. The previous version I paid for is no longer available for download forcing me into this new software. I agree that the app needs to evolve, time needs to be put into fixing bugs along with improvements but come on now - the price needs to be reduced. The software is wonderful but a lack of loyalty from the company to customers impacts this product. I am going to find another way to log my time.
I do not like the policy Coradine uses any time that there is a major software release from Apple. With Logten Pro you had iCloud Sync, now if you want the same service with a different and nicer lookout you need to subscribe… I don’t think is fare to have purchased a program and not be able to have the same service as before. A part from that I think the program itself is good but in the long term, with this kind of policy, is going to be too expensive. Especially if you consider that is just a logbook...
This product is really just version 6 with iCloud drive and Yosemite support. I had and continue to have syncing and crashing issues with the iOS app. The iOS app only runs for a while and then crashes and requires a reinstall of the app to get this running again. Duplicate “Last 7 Days” to “Last 12 Months” entries on the Mac version.
I am flying for a major international Airline and have been Logten Pro user for quite a few years now, each time paying an upgrade fee. Aside from the User Interface Update and the Notifications, I see virtually no change in the functionality at all. This version should have been a maintenance release which fixes the iCloud Sync issue with iOS8 / Yosemite and to generally keep up with the Apple Development Cycle. This is called customer service and what Coradyne should provide to the existing customers. Besides being a pilot, I am also a developer and have myself created some advanced iOS apps (Yes, including advanced CoreData & iCloud & REST API for a server). Sure, there were quite some changes in the SDK in the last year. I don’t want to get into much detail here, but essentially upgrading some iCloud Sync Code and a bunch of storyboard screens does not really justify $70/year subscription. For this app, the subscription model makes no sense. It may so if they would offer some real data feed services which add some value for the end user. CONUS rates for tax calculation of perdiems, just to name one. There are many more examples. Sorry Coradine, I’m not upgrading. Not because I can’t spare a few bucks, but by principle. I might even fire up Xcode and hack away to create my own solution.
I used to recommend this logbook, but I am now telling people to not buy it. It cost too much money and with the subscription based scheme the product is not worth it. Too bad because I used to be a big fan.
Except for costing A LOT more than before, since it was “free” annually after you purchased it, I don’t see a single thing different!! I understand your business model requires you to continue to make money but this shouldn’t be on the “backs” of your existing customers who have already purchased the product. I disagree completely with those that claim “the company has to continue to make money.” Yes, but MOST companies do that by expansion, creativity, innovation…and NOT by simply making a few simple changes to their product and then trying to charge their clients an ever increasing annual fee. Which I truly believe it WILL be ever-increasing if you simply observe the current “business model” of making a profit. I will continue with the “older version” of LogTen Pro. It’s worked fine and as long as Coradine doesn’t pull a “fast one” and make it unuseable then I’ll continue to use it. Sorry Coradine try the Apple model and innovate, make new products, etc. But it’s just not fair to continue to charge your current customers who purchased a product “in faith” that we wouldn’t be baited and switched!!
I love the LogTen software on my iOS devices and on my Mac. It is well polished, very versatile, quick, getnerates great reports and is a very nice electronic logbook. I’d say its the best available. However, it’s awefully hard to like it based on the way the company treats its customers. A 5 star app becomes a one star app with the kind of stunt they pulled in this version. It’s unethical to “break” the sync feature in your older version just to sell me a newer version that magically works. I expected a little better product support than that for what I paid for this app. Aviation is a small community and I’m afraid I won’t be recommending this app to my fellow pilots and students anymore…which is sad because I was a big advocate for this app.
I’ve paid for this program in the past and it is excellent however charging existing customers for this who have already paid is total crap. There are many electronic logbooks out there now that will do the same as this for far less. You are making a huge mistake Coradine by treating your existing customers this way. You already have our money and trying to take more for something we already paid for is wrong.
I bought a version of this software years ago and thought it was very good and a good value at the time. I then bought an upgraded version for my mac as well as a version for my iPad in the interest of keeping up with the latest tech. They were both quite expensive I thought especially for someone who was already a user and did not have much new capability compared to the original. Also the new version’s did not work as advertised. Very Buggy including problems importing my flights form my schedule (I work for a major 121 carrier) no iCloud syncing at the time which was one of the advertised upgrades no ability to sync between devices ( mac would sync to iPad but not the other way) which i thought was weird. Your out flying and update your logbook on your ipad or iphone as you go with approaches flown actual instrument etc. but when you get home you cant sync to you laptop for backup? That was the whole point of moble capability for me. Customer service was not helpfull on any of my issues very slow to respond and lots of e mail back and forth. I just wanted my problems fixed. Pick up the phone some time. Now they are charging for a new version again and on top of that charging a yearly fee? My log book is MY logbook I should not have to pay yearly to use it. On top of that its really a fancy spreadsheet. How much does it really need to change all the time……My computer operating system changes less and is supported for much longer. I don’t pay 50 bucks a year so my t.v. turns on when i want to watch the game. Very disappointed….. save your money.
I absolutely love this app for keeping track of my flight time!! The only thing is is that I wish the app on the ipad was free as well so i could link between my computer and iPad.
Been a Logten client from my first day as a private pilot. Iphone/iPad works great. Now, as I try to get the Mac version to sync it has been imposible….and the feedback that I get from Coradine is: “go to our forum!!!” No, contact number….nothing! I posted a question a week ago, no reply! I may start looking at other products that will emulate my data. My concer is big enough to recomend no to get into this software until they offer decent support.
I am very disapointed. I am a former Log Ten Pro 6 user. Since updating to Log Ten Pro X I have a big mess when starting Log Ten Pro X on Mac. It does not sync even it says so on both devices. A big mess on the Logbookscreen. Data fields are not possible to arrange. After restarting Log Ten Pro X they are back to messy….. Date is showing twice….PIC/P1 Crew field is showing 6 times despite being switched off in preferences. the right side of the screen is a mess….showing a lot of empty space and not the items selected in preferences. Log Ten Pro 6 worked excellent for me. This new version is a catastrophe, especially for airline pilots having a lot of data. On top of all, customer support is ignoring my mails since weeks! Not metioning paying for all this, especially for existing custumers. Dear Coraldine people I am very disapointed!
